A construction site is easiest to enter at night and on weekends, and that's when most of the risk is. Equipment, tools, copper, appliances and materials are sitting out, fences are only partly built and there are plenty of ways in. Crimson Security Service provides licensed armed and unarmed security officers for construction sites across Middle Tennessee, managed by our locally owned team in Smyrna (TN license #14376).

Most general contractors and developers add security in a few situations:

• After hours. Evenings, overnight and weekends, when the crew is gone and the site is open.
• Valuable material on site. Copper, wire, appliances, fixtures, rented equipment and tools.
• Early phases. Open land, partial fencing and no lighting.
• Late phases. Finished units with appliances in place and no occupants.
• Hot work or disabled fire protection. A fire watch may be required by the local fire code official. See fire watch security.
• Public interest or past trouble. Trespassing, vandalism, protests or a prior break-in.

• Gate and access control. A single entrance for trucks, crews and deliveries, with sign-in and verified access.
• Overnight and weekend posts. An officer on site from the end of the shift to the beginning of the next.
• Perimeter and building patrols. Walks of fence lines, laydown yards, storage containers, equipment, units and floors, recorded with GPS and QR checkpoints.
• Deterring and reporting trespassers. Officers watch, deter and report, and call law enforcement when needed.
• Daily reports. Activity and incident reports are delivered online so the project manager and superintendent can see what happened without a call.
• Vehicle on the post. For large or spread-out sites, a vehicle for the post can be added at an hourly fee, depending on the site's needs and your requests.

Many sites use unarmed officers as a visible deterrent who call the police when needed. Armed officers are available for sites with high-value material or a history of serious incidents. We'll recommend one after walking the site with you. See armed security guards.

Construction changes weekly. A site that needs a gate officer for one phase may need only night patrols for the next. Our coverage is not a fixed package. We start with what your site needs now, and we adjust as the project moves along. Single shifts through 24/7 posts are possible.

To put together a quote, tell us:

1. The address and type of project (commercial, multi-family, industrial or other).
2. The schedule: start date, how long the project runs and when crews are on site.
3. Entrances, fencing, lighting and where the valuable material is stored.
4. Any past theft or trespassing, and the hours you want covered.
5. Whether the superintendent or the owner will be our point of contact.

Can you cover only nights and weekends?
Yes. That's the most common request.

Do you provide security for a project that hasn't broken ground yet?
Open land can need coverage before work starts. Call and tell us what is on site, and we will tell you how we would cover it.

How do reports reach our project manager?
Daily activity and incident reports are delivered online.

Can an officer also do fire watch?
Fire watch is its own post with its own duty. If your fire marshal requires one, we can staff it separately.

Can we add a vehicle on the post?
Yes. A vehicle for the post can be added at an hourly fee, depending on the site's needs and your requests. Details are set at the site walk.
